My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

tiles for mosaic shower floor

I've laid lots of tile in my time (floors, back splashes, fireplace walls) but this is the first time I've done a shower floor. I am making an octopus mosaic and I'm having trouble finding vitreous tile in the colors that I want that are the same thickness . Right now I have a grey/ green vitreous tile and a green non-vitreous tile for the body and black pebble tiles for the background (all 10mm). I'd like to use penny tiles for the "suckers" but the only 10mm ones I've found are also non vitreous. Is this an issue? I've heard they will change color in the water, but that isn't an issue to me. Might actually be cool since it is an octopus. Below are my current tiles and the inspiration picture.

    You might be interested in joining this facebook group (if you're on fb). This is a group we started for those of us in the trade that do artistic tile work. It is comprised of professionals in the industry, including those who primarily make mosaic tile art and those who design, fabricate and install artistic tile work. Several amazing octopus projects have been featured. More importantly, there is a great deal of technical experience in the group. We just posted a couple short videos on "mounting" the tile pieces prior to install (allows for differences in tile thicknesses) and are actually working on a proposal for new standards in the industry regarding mosaic and cut tile installations. Please just indicate in the questions when you request to join that you were invited by Dragonfly and we'll let you in. Cool project.
