I can't quite see the issues you are mentioning. I tried to expand the photos and it's not apparent to me.

I wanted to say, I think your kitchen looks lovely from my view. I am sure when you get some "stuff" on the counters as a functional kitchen, things won't be so glaring. I don't know about having the grout still on the tiles; that doesn't sound right.

Hopefully some with more expertise can offer you suggestions.

If it’s 24 hours since the tile was grouted the grout is still soft. You can remove it fairly easily and re-grout. They make tools for this, but choosing a darker grout does make the errors in tile setting more obvious, not less. You might want to consider white grout. That said, ask him to come and fix it. He owes you. Also, if he put grout in your caulk line, have him clean that out.

If you want to make those tiny little slivers of tile at the top of your rows less visible, install the light rail moldings from your cabinet company under your upper cabinets. If you can, while you are at it, install under cabinet lighting.

I think the tiling to the left of the window is what makes the kitchen look unfinished.

I’d get rid of the beveled tile yes pull it out and redo it completely . It’s a heavy handed look for your nice light , white, somewhat modern clean space in terms of the lines and looks. Just get a simple flat ceramic Subway tile.

Can you put a cabinet I one that tile near the door area? I think that will help it looked more finished

@Lisa Dipiro, I am planning to add floating shelves in that area. So that should take care of that.

We were very happy with our contractor until this happened. He was on time with everything. The whole demolition and installation was over in 2 weeks. When we told him how we did not like the backsplash work, he made a few adjustments. But that did not help much. He told us we could use a razor to scratch off of what we did not like. It seemed the contractor hasn't worked on this kind of beveled tiles before.

Right now in some areas, the grout is within the grout line (between the tiles) while in some locations it's a thicker line, spread more on the tiles.

I read online, that a solution of warm water and baking soda with some vinegar can help remove the grout off these ceramic tiles. I hope it works.

Anybody else have any other suggestions on this?

Hopefully, this only removes the grout from the tiles and not the entire grout (from the wall as well). Does anyone have any experience with this?

If this fails, as someone suggested, I will just have to regrout it to white.

I used a solution of dish soap. Looks like it worked. Helped loosen the grout.
After three hours of scrubbing and scraping, I finally achieved this. Fairly happy.

Much better. I think you can relax now. Your effort seems to have made the difference ;0)
