Just remove soil around the trunk in a 2 inch radius till you get to the roots. It should do fine.

The roots are actually exposed now, they grew upward to the surface. I believe you can see them in the second picture

yes all trees get that yu might want to cover them with compost

When using mulch as a topper, that is exactly what roots to any tree tend to do. Not sure what you mean it was buried too deep? If it were it should be stable.

If you want those roots to stop surfacing, just remove the mulch and fill the top with a mix to replace the mulch. I don't use mulch in mines for that reason. You want to encourage the roots to go deep anchoring themselves into the pot.

The plant seemed have a good route structure before it was repotted. My boyfriend repotted it as a nice gesture and I noticed the trunk was buried below the surface (deeper than previous). After a month or so, I noticed it was leaning and unstable and the roots were surfacing. The mulch was added to cover the surfacing roots.

some adjustments need to be made
