Tuesday and Wednesday blooms

These are ones that opened for the first time this season. Yesterday was spent getting the weed lawn mowed, pulling some of the weeds and then working on some other tasks we needed to get done.

ALLEGHENY SKYLINE - good height (but not 40 inches as registered), not a EMO here when temps dip into the mid 60's overnight and could use a few more buds. I haven't seen any bud drop on this one. It is only 4-5 fans at last count. Yesterday and today photos.

DESERT SHORE - it looks similar to Temporary And Eternal this morning. Height is okay but not 36 inches. I haven't weeded the bed it is in. I plan to eliminate the garden bed soon.

BERMA ABERCROMBIE- opened yesterday and not a good bloom start. Short scapes and barely above the foliage.

CROWN OF CREATION - started blooming yesterday but got a photo this morning.

DYNA GIRL - I wasn't able to get a pick yesterday so this is from this morning. Looks too much like All American Girl. The garden bed it is in hasn't been weeded but I do plan to eliminate the bed soon.

WINTER TREASURE - short scapes and barely above the foliage this year. Not typical for this daylily.

Yes, it is that white in person.

KENTUCKY LUCKY - opened yesterday with many scapes and buds but shorter than I'm use to seeing for this daylily

INCA PUZZLE - opened yesterday with short scapes but lots of them. Hope to get a better pic without the sun hitting the bloom and you can see the pattern on it.

LOST IN THE TOY STORE - opened today. Short scapes but I do plan to keep this one.

THE HOLO DECK = this morning pic. I don't think it has as many buds this year. This is one of the plants that had the black dots on the buds.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD - this morning pic as I missed it yesterday. Barely above foliage and not many buds per scape.

FLYING TRAPEZE - smaller blooms than last year. Several scapes but not many buds per scape as far as I can tell.

GENTLE ON MY MIND - opening today. I plan to keep the one. It is in a bed I plan to eliminate shortly.

SELF DETERMINATION - opening yesterday. Short scapes and less of them this year. Bud count down.

Chipmunk that is terrorizing my gardens.

That is it for today. Suppose to get storms later today. Hope they are right. Weeding yesterday was not easy.

I think I like Gentle On My Mind best. The pink open blooms do it for me......The color on Flying Trapeze also draws my attention. Too bad it's not performing all that well for you.........I've grown fond of that cantaloupe color so your shot of Crown of Creation rounds out my top 3..........There were lots of Chipmunks in Colorado when I was there and for some reason I don't think of them being anywhere other then out west. I bet you'd like it like that too - Chipmunks only out west...........Maryl

Flying Trapeze does well here, but but bud count is in 6-10 range.

I really love all these photos, Julia! What are you doing with the plants where you are eliminating beds? My favorites are Allegheny Skyline, Gentle On My Mind, Crown of Creation and Light of the World. /the chipmunk is so cute, but I know their tunnelling is to the detriment of daylilies. We used to have quite a few here, but I think they were hunted so relentlessly the the cats, that there aren't any more here. I do know the rabbits have disappeared since the pack of coyotes began hunting in this neighborhood.

I particularly like Allegheny Skyline, Julia. Gentle On My Mind is quite Lovely too, ad I always liked Flying Trapeze. As Debra said, we had chipmunks here too and they are cute, but destructive and The cats eliminated that particular problem here also.

I think Inca Puzzle and Flying Trapeze are my favorites today.I always like seeing your pictures, a field of flowers! This has been the season of short scapes here, you are not alone. Too much bud drop this season too.

I like the colors on Gentle on My Mind and Flying Trapeze. And I rather like the color on Dyna Girl. Winter Treasure looks quite white. To what do you attribute so much of the lower bud count and shorter scapes? Is it due to late freeze, freeze and thaw, lack of sufficient rain, or combination of these? So disappointing to have that happen but you still have lovely blooms.

Lots of pretties! I like Dyna Girl and Winter Treasure especially. Love the color on Crown of Creation. If you are eliminating the whole bed will you keep some flowers or just relocate them all to a new one?

Beautiful butterfly on beautiful Ribbit Ribbit. Chipmunks are cute pests. Our cat hunts them sometimes but they are still here. Well they have a hotel (patio box) and a restaurant (bird feeder) so they are not going anywhere..

A lot of very nice ones that I always enjoy seeing: Allegheny Skyline, Inca Puzzle and Flying Trapeze.

This year was the last try for Berma Albercrombie for me. It gets worse and worse. This year it was deep down in the foliage and very few buds.

That chipmunk is my cats nemesis.

Most of the beds that I'm eliminating are ones that have only a couple of plants in them since I moved several of them 2 years ago to other spots.

I believe the short scapes is due to lack of rain as well as the bud drops. We did have a late spring with snow squalls into late April. If I had the option to do watering I'm sure things might have been better but it is not an option here.

Brad: So sorry to hear Berma has not done well for you. This year mine is barely above foliage. Not typical for here. I don't recommend Inca Puzzle for your area. I think mantis had complained about it being too short and not enough blooms. I think his weather is more typical to yours.
