Get rid of the shutters completely - they do not suit the house at all. Shutters should be sized so they could actually cover the window (which is what shutters were originally designed to do).

Painting siding isn't that hard - especially a one-story house. Painting brick, on the other hand, would be difficult (I haven't done it, but I wouldn't want to try - and I've painted our house twice). And once you paint the brick, you can't undo it. I would paint the house a color that compliments the brick.

I got rid of the shutters - you were absolutely right!!! Im considering staining the brick a darker gray, but still on the fence. I read that painting brick is not good because it doesn’t breathe and requires regular maintenance. I’d like to pick out a fun front door color either way I go. Thoughts? Right now it’s a deep blue, but I want a pop of color, that works with this gray/blue siding.

Don't paint the bricks. Don't stain it grey either because that trend is fading like all the ugly battleship grey brick houses in my neighborhood.
I love your door color could you paint storm door metal to match? Add flowers for more color.
