maackia, yup, planted it -- not sure what year (it's at least 10 yrs old & from forestfarm IIRC). It does sucker a bit underneath, but just around the trunk.

Mine just finished blooming. I think it's the Rogers selection. It's never really been damaged by the winter but it's been slow establish and turn into a nice looking shrub. Though it did get smushed once when I was having a big overgrown juniper removed. It's always one of the first things to wilt when it's been dry. I think my soil might be too sandy and drier than it likes. The UMN arboretum has a nice patch of it.

Real nice - I had one that was vigorous with outstanding color.

Just last year planting 8 of them as mass backplanting to a bed. JBs would not leave them alone last year. Had some decent dieback for some reason but set new buds and about 2' tall.
