Bathroom updated

Coming from England, I am always reluctant to give up having a bath, but my husband was getting concerned about stepping into the bath to take a shower and not falling over the side of the bath. In updating a spare bathroom, we decided to just go with a shower. As my husband is the one principally using it (I changed a spare bedroom into a walk-in closet for him and this is the adjacent bathroom) I wanted a more masculine color without being too industrial. I chose to tile the shower vertically to heighten the eye and the floor tiles were laid at an angle which appears to widen the space. Floating vanity also helps the eye to disappear under the fixture and create more space. Also, we never use under-the-sink cupboards except for cleaning supplies and they usually end up being gross. These wide and deep drawers keep everything handy.
Lighting was an issue too, we wanted bright and airy. The extractor fan was refitted with a new one that has an LED light in it - game changer! The shower also has a new LED light can and the sink light is LED too.
The shower has 3 grab rails which I was concerned about looking too fussy, but they are beautiful Koehler designs which look elegant as well as functional.
All in all, it is a beautiful, bright space - even if I can’t have a bath in it!
