Hi Nancy, thank you for your help! These designs are great to get an impression! I agree with you, the TV on the short wall would be the better option.

Yesterday after writing this post I was also thinking about the option to have the sofa facing the big window (so the backside is visible while standing in the kitchen). This creates a 'separate' space for lounging and leaves plenty of room for living and dining.

What would you think about this?

I was thinking along the lines Nancy posted but might turn table lengthwise to keep sides more open and chairs on sides with no end chairs. A bit longer table so 3 chairs fit on each side. Great rug would define spaces nicely too.

Agree the large sofa should face the window. It seems silly to schlep food clear across the living area to a dining space. Keep it near the kitchen.

You have to do what works for the way you live. Some comments would be: What happens if you have some people over-where would they sit? What’s the direction of the sun coming in the window-would it be in your face? Would it make you uncomfortable sitting on the sofa? It’s not a good idea to have your tv in front of a heating source. You have no room for ambient lighting.
When you have so little space to start with and with having the living area at that end, it leaves you with so much wasted space. Just look at your plan now. I understand about the comment of carrying food to the table. I have a small round table in my kitchen, so I don’t have room for serving bowls. I plate everything in the kitchen and in my case, I am only carrying two plates to the table. So if it were me, I’d make the adjustment. And one last floor plan: create a “lounge” area by the window, if you got a round coffee that that adjusts in height to a dining table, you could eat there as well or it could be a hobby/craft or gaming table. Tv would be wall mounted over kitchen table and sofa opposite. And you may want to consider a graphic wallcovering for that huge blank wall. Enjoy your new place!

Vinay, like your plan. Like TV in front of windows, and sofa facing windows. Enjoy looking out windows vs. looking at walls. Can use window treatments if needed to manage sunlight.

I came up with alternate idea. It isn’t to perfect scale (cause I am in a hurry!) but a concept. Sometimes in tight spaces angling some pieces can be helpful. I angled sofa and added a movable cart for extra prep space in kitchen and a small writing desk for a writing/desk area. The swivel desk chair can turn to seating area for one more seat. An arc lamp provides additional lighting to the center if the space along with a sculptural feeling. Large art on long wall across from wall mounted TV over desk area. Dotted line is a rug to anchor your space.
