You are right! I will post some pictures later, but I would say that there's plenty of light on my living room. This crema oak flooring is not there yet as we just purchased it.

What color are your furnishings?

I am redesigning my entire living and dinning room, so there are no furnitures at all. I am planning on buying light color furnitures (light grey, creamy, beige colors only). I had dark brown before and I am done with dark colors.

Since you are only doing two rooms, select your furniture first. Then you can think about paint color.

The color selected by JudyG looks very nice, but it seems to be close to the same color as the floor on my monitor. I think I would prefer some contrast.

Here are few pics. I will do a fresh paint and put the crema oak flooring you see in the picture. I can’t buy the furnitures before I finish the flooring and the paint.

Also how tall should the base board be for 9 feet ceiling height?

The wall color you have looks good and the floorboard height seems right ,too...any higher would be too much in this size room..i would go a little more detailed than just the flat wood sample..as the rest of your trims are upgraded...

If the walls are lighter in color there will not be much contrast..as the floors and ceiling are very light...
