My avocado's leaves turn brown and fall off- help

I'm growing an avocado for about a year now and for the most part it did fine. But since a few weeks ago the leaves get brown spots from the tip, spreading along the edges and then close to the middle, until the leaves fall of. Does anyone know what to do to help the plant?
