What does your contract state?

I doubt a 3D house rendering is treated as the contractual source of all final materials and finishes.

By they way, unless you are a glutton for punishment, I would edit your post and remove the pictures.

If history is any indicator, the regulars here will rip your house to shreds for its "snout" garage and complex roof line.

What would you get if the garage doors were not upgraded?

The snout garage does not bother me as much as the large expanses of wall without something to break them up.

It is nice to see brick go all the way around the house.

this is the standard door, which isn't horrible but I was thinking my garage doors were going to be nicer. And the plan for the wall area was going to be landscaped with shrubs and bushes.

That's a lot of shrubs and bushes. One drawback of large expanses of exterior wall is that it indicated lack of windows for natural light and natural ventilation.

The carriage house garage doors are certainly much better looking and with a higher price tag. How visible is the garage from the street. Will it make you smile every time you pull in/out of the garage and see the prettier doors? Will you grow to hate the plain/standard doors? Is that $900 upgrade total for both doors or for each door? If it is for both and you love the look, then it isn't a big sum of money in the total cost of the project!

@Mark I opted not to put window on that wall because my neighbors would have direct sight line into my garage, but I got a huge window on the front facing garage wall for light, also thinking the garage doors would add more light too. Also I'm asking for design help in the gardening forum. 20 ft landscaping is challenging but a lot of space to make look awesome

Obviously, garage door with windows are more expensive than garage doors without windows.

There are many grades of garage door quality. All steel doors are more expensive than the cheaper artificial paneled doors. Do you know what you are getting?

Yeah - I have to think garage door info would be clearly specified in a spec sheet. There is a huge difference in money for cheap door vs expensive doors.

As always, any thing like this makes you wonder what else isn't specified.

After seeing the one in the rendering, it'd be hard to get the big solid white one. :-(

I’d get the plain one and have it painted not left white.

im going ahead and paying $900 for the fancy doors. I did my research and that's on the low low end as far as garage door cost
