I have little color advice, but what an adorable entranceway! Love the combo brick and stone chimney, so eclectic! And the winding path through the garden, I do hope you're planning to fill it with greenery? If you will be keeping the roof, plus the brick and stone, you'll probably do best to pull a color from those elements. There are some great semi-transparent stains available to let the woodgrain show through...

I would pull the color from the brick or the stone. I think the window trim could be the same color as your gutter system.

Look into replacing the leader with a rain chain. Much prettier and functions just as well.

What color was it before? Stained or painted? If previously painted, then your options may be limited due to leftover paint in places.

Will there be any chinking? What is your personal style on the inside? Woodsy? Beachy? I like log homes best when the wood is stained a woodtone and stands out!

If it were mine, I think I'd go for a nice medium tone, not too different from what it looks like now. Not too dark, because there are already shadowy areas on the porch. Not too yellow, that would make the roof look more purple.

Is this the front door? It needs to stand out much, much more. Maybe a arbor overhead? A prominent piece of art next to it, and paint it a really eye catching color! I agree about the downspout and rainchain, or even copper. Then I would fill the flower bed with ferns and hostas (if shady) or wildflowers (If sunny) It's a charming house!

I thinkthis unexpected stain color would be great on your home.

Thank you for the suggestions. The roof is new, my only regret is not doing it black. I was thinking of more natural colour and painting windows dark. It was stained before, I want to try to keep it more natural. The problem is I have tried so many stain colours and they are not that great.

What about leaving the siding natural and just sealing it? I like it as is.

You can get wood protection with little or no stain in it (I use a clear wood protectant on my home) but it needs to be reapplied more often, and the wood will gray out with time. I agree with you that the lighter wood you achieved with sand blasting is lovely and would look nice with darker window trim.

Beverly I love the choices you gave me. I wonder if grey or black stain would work with the cabin. I tried a more natural stain and I don’t like it.

I totally second the cool brown look, it blends with the stonework and even works with the roof! You could do a warmer woodtone for the trim and fascia, go dark, or blend it in.

Update: tried different stains ( grey which turned into black) and mushroom which turned into battlefield grey.
So frustrating that the colors are not aligning.
