How big is your tree and pot, what size pot are you going to use. If you know how to uppot fast, no drying roots, I say go ahead. Fill your new container halfway, stick your tree in the new pot, if height is ok , start filling little at a time, making sure to fill between roots, continue, as you cover the roots, sort of hard spray to pack between the roots.

Actually, you can re-pot any time of the year. Over the last 25 years I have probably transplanted most every week of the year. The only time I don't re-pot is when the tree is in flower.

Also Alex, I have good draining soil, but in winter I do need to water only every 7-10 days (indoors, 62F +/- room in front of a full south facing window). I don't do it, but people here have often recommended using a wooden skewer, inserting into the soil to see how far down it is dry before watering.

I just re-potted my Owari satsuma today and it was 100*.

I also have it shaded right now in the mid day and afternoons with an umbrella from our patio table where several of my trees are in my yard.

I have not paid attention to time of year when repotting and have no problems. Keep them out of full sun for a couple of weeks.

The pot it came with is around 1.5 gal. I plan on either keeping it in the same pot or moving it in one just shy of 2 gal.
