my climate and conditions are different so I don't know what to reccomend..but I would avoid rock..I see lots of complaints about rock..did you look through the garden photos on Houzz?..I saved a few photos in an ideabook if you want to look..just a thought - I left service alleys next to the front of my house and I love them..I removed overgrown shrubs next to the house then planted new plants with space to walk behind them..

Can you step back a touch for a picture of the whole house. If that is a circular drive in front - I hope it's not the road - the island it creates in the front yard will impact the design.

For starters, the extremely narrow beds left and right of the entry do nothing for the house or landscape appeal.

on the right of the front door... do you use that little spit of triangular ground for anything other than maybe snow removal ???

if not ... and taking into account snow load... i might turn that whole thing into a garden bed ... if you really want an impact ...

and then continue the bed into the other side.. perhaps not as large ...

i would also like to see the entire front of the house ...

if that dark brown siding is wood that needs to be painted every few years .. stained.. whatever ... the bed that is actually there.. should be left barren for said painting .. that is one big reason that bed is too small ....never forget.. foundation plantings are planted to hide the foundation... NOT ON THE FOUNDATION ....

rocks are the bane of all gardeners ... and never put down landscape fabric ... just two hints ...

i dont know what to do about the hill.. but whats going on with that middle larger yellow .,.. what might be a conifer .... a pic of that might be nice .. some might think its an ugly mess ... other of us.. might think its the coolest plant there ... any idea why it looks that way ...???

Here are more pics of the whole front of the house. I’m overwhelmed. 30 years of overgrowth. We have 5 large garden beds al around yard. I want the front to have nice curb appeal and minimal work. I appreciate all feedback and we face south west.

It looks like we're looking at the front of the home and the back deck at the same time. What gives? Trying to understand the overall arrangement of the house/drive/neighbors is confusing. Can you enlarge a satellite view to help clarify the site?

I am getting the impression you ripped out all the old overgrown bushes in front of the house, put in some new baby bushes and are not happy with the results? Is that what is happening here?

Something that might work for your house, your climate and your desire not to be overwhelmed would be a simple mixed skirt in the narrow beds you already have of one kind perennial grass and one kind perennial flower appropriate to Colorado. Both at two feet tall or less. Plant the beds full. Cut it all to the ground once at some point over the winter before spring green up starts.

Any rocks need to be boulders or don't bother.

Here are some satellite views. We live on 5 acres. I want minimal work out front I like boulders and grasses and do not want to deal w flower beds much as off the deck is a big bed. The circular drive is overgrown and I don’t even know where to begin on that. Advice for front of the house?

Most houses are lined up square along street edges and those are fairly slam-dunk for understanding. Here, the property is large and differently arranged, and so far, each set of pictures adds confusion. You need to show the house/landscape in a way that makes sense to us. The way to do this is by standing in line with the door and taking a panoramic scene of the whole house plus its setting ... the full extent of landscaping to its right and left.

Stand on the red dot with the camera. Take a series of slightly overlapping (10%) photos that pan ALL of the scenery between the purple lines.

The forum can only intelligibly deal with one major area at a time. Save discussion of sides, back, island, perimeter etc. until after the front foundation planting is resolved.

Try to take photos when the light is bright and uniform -- such as when the sun is shielded by a cloud..

It would be okay to take the set of photos using a panoramic feature of the camera if you have it, but we'll see a lot let detail. Not sure how much that matters until the result is delivered.

Ok I have added the pano and hope for feedback if what to plant and what to do to give this curb appeal. I Want low maintenance. Maybe a few variegated grasses and boulders and idk what else. Please help want to do this project soon.

These suggestions are about arranging ... not specific plants to use in accomplishing the goals. Use what works best to do the job and for the conditions. I'm also suggesting to raise the canopies of the trees at right side. You'd need to convert the ideas into a plan view drawing in order to proceed.
