Blooming on Thursday

It's not very nice out today--muggy and overcast. But it was a good day to get some pictures. There's not much blooming. In one bed there is only one late bloomer flowering today out of maybe over 100 daylilies.

I don't think Tibetan Orange likes our climate much. It hadn't done much before but with last year's mild winter, it has been gorgeous this year. It's probably the brightest orange in the garden. You can bet Bob likes it.

Shirley Koch is such a nice flower. We are so lucky the hybridizer gave it to our daughter.

I think I posted this before, but I love this flower. It is Impassioned.

Hell on Heels is an excellent later blooming daylilies. It's registered mid-late, but it is blooming with the lates this year.

Forever the Optimist was a bonus plant with an order from the hybridizer--lucky us. This is a rebloom scape.

Deregulated Behavior was just planted this June. I think I like this one.

Dappled Dynamo was another bonus plant. It is the only stippled one we have. It's a small-flowered diploid and I think it's a bud builder.

Now for some seedlings. Because we breed for lates, we still have quite a few blooming

This is a rebloom scape on All of My Love to You X Randy Stephens.

As you might imagine, Bob loves this one. This is Apache War Dance X Sea of Cinders. It just doesn't seem to quit blooming and now it is putting up a rebloom scape. It's not a very large flower, but it gets your attention across the garden.

If we have enough fans of this, it will be an introduction next year. It is Ashwood Inferno X Horns.

We dabble in doubles. Here is But Wait, There's More X Never Too Late.

This is Elena Kulpa X Unknown. This seedling was started last December. I think it has sepal problems. Notice the strange shape of the sepals. Sometimes it doesn't open at all. I wonder if this will get better as it matures.

Last Man Standing X Cactus Bloom looked quite vibrant today.

I continue to be impressed with this one. It has a complicated parentage--New Tangerine Twist X ((Southern Summer X Born to Run) X Gypsy Rose)). The flower is large too.

It's nice to see you still have so much blooming. I like the bright colors of Tibetan Orange, and Forever the Optimist is really pretty. Of the seedlings, I think the Apache Ward Dance kid is my favorite. I'm swayed by the bright group of them.

Bob and I have similar likes on some of these. I rarely meet an orange I don't like. Tibetan Orange is really a pretty one. Apache War Dance X Sea of Cinders is a pretty one and so is Ashwood Inferno X Horns. I really like the last two seedlings also. A very bright cheerful post, Nancy.

Such nice late blooming seedlings. I’m a fan of doubles, don’t have too many now, I like your seedling.

A great bunch of blooms! I like the first 2 and last one of the named ones, and the first 3 and last one of your seedlings. It is sure nice to have late ones. Though some days when it is so hot and humid, I don't really see them much except for a fleeting glance.
