It would work functionally but a rose doesn't actually need such a small mesh and I think black plastic 2” wire would be egregious, detract from the rose itself and look rather tacky. A rose needs strong but sparse support since it doesn’t climb by twining or tendrils. Wood or plain metal would be less obtrusive and 12” squares, simple parallel battens or wires, or even ropes or chains, would do the job more attractively imo. Unless, of course, you want the screening effect of the plastic coated mesh itself, because that’s what you’d see most of, not the rose.
