Kitchens Design Dilemma Lighting

bright light needed over kitchen sink

Redoing a kitchen in a 1960s house that’s had a linear fluorescent bulb over the sink. It puts out out a lot of light which is great as there is no other overhead light. Replacing light with a pendant light and want it to be as bright as possible. Thought about a glass globe but concerned about the glare. Thoughts and suggestions? Pictures are from before and during renovation.

Can you install recessed lighting? I would use two lights on each side of the window. The space is fairly tight and I think would look better without something hanging in front of the window.

calidesign - no recesses lighting. You might be able to see it in the first picture but there are gorgeous, solid wood ceilings in this house. We have to use conduits for any overhead lighting.

Maybe you could use some sort of sconce lighting to keep the window clear, and direct the light. I would try for two so you aren't blocking overhead light while working at the sink.

Use the "faux recessed light, they attach to a junction box. if you have room to hang the pendant electrical than you have room for that.
