What's the thickness, backing and wear layer on each?

Hallmark is 5mm vs Coretec 8mm.

Backing on Hallmark is an “acoustic pad” but I haven’t been able to find what it is vs Coretec having a cork backing.

Wear layers are both 20 mil, Hallmark says UV Ceramic Bead and I haven’t been able to find the specs on what the wear layer is on Coretec.

Did you get any information? I have both of these samples and am considering for a condo.

You could add Flooret Modin to your group. 40mil wear layer. You buy direct. So no store. $4/sqf. 9"x72"x7.2mm rigid planks. Attached Underlayment 1.5 mm IXPE Foam. Aluminum Oxide Ceramic Bead protective finish. 15 color/design choices.

I have Coretec partially because of the low off-gassing (VOCs). You might want to check into that. Low off-gassing is important in my house because the house is tightly sealed. I actually love it and never thought I would. It has a soft feel and never gets freezing cold in our frigid winters.

Also, if you have a pet, look into hardiness of the surface.

I had a similar occasion happen at my local flooring store, except for it was Audra max croissant vs hallmark Camarillo oak. Hallmark is almost a dollar cheaper per sqft, but does seem to have one of the best finishes for luxury vinyl, while not as thick as some competitors. Would love to see and hear how it turned out for your case.

We installed Hallmark lvp, Courtier series, Baroness in Hickory over Coretec. Our floors look fabulous and have held up very well. We have young triplets and multiple dogs so they take a beating. We may buy another house and I’m planning to use it or coretec in our next home. Here they are right after installation.

what color of the Hallmark did you go with? Is it camarilla oak?

Ordering Camarilla Oak to be installed in a few months. I chose it not only for the looks but also because it has FloorScore seal and the stone layer inside. These were big for me otherwise I would have seriously considered Cortec’s Calypso Oak.

@Techi I am considering Camarilla Oak. Do you have any pictures or feedback to share?

I just did a scratch test on Camarilla oak sample compared to Flooret Kingsland and it seems that Flooret was much easier to scratch compared to camarilla oak. Maybe because there is more topcoat layer to scratch off?? Also my Camarilla oak price was quoted $1.35 more than Flooret.

I do wish Flooret had a color similar to Camarilla Oak as it looks to be more neutral than the warmer Kingsland and/or Nakan in the Flooret line.

@Techi - your floor is beautiful. Love the color. The sample that I have pulls much more gray than your floor. But it is a small sample.

@Rashmi Reddy - I have received two quotes. One $5.85 sf plus shipping and $6.59 sf plus $150 shipping.

@Rashmi Reddy I’m in South Florida and the best price I got was $5.89 sq ft. A local flooring quotes me $28,000 for materials, installation and new pine baseboards for 3,000 sq ft of space. Hope this helps.

@ V M the small samples that Hallmark sends do not do the color of the flooring Justice. I found even the big boards they let you check out at the flooring store was not accurate as ordering one box and laying out the pieces. I highly suggest doing this for any flooring you are interested in. Best of luck!

Why are you guys going with LVP when the price is almost some hardwood flooring options. My flooring installer is saying that LVP will look hollow and floating and won’t feel as good as hardwood to walk. Is it true? can you guys please suggest? @V M @Techi

@Rashmi Reddy I am replacing engineered hardword flooring in my kitchen. It is in terrible shape from dishwasher steam, fridge water, big dog life, etc. I just can't put wood back in the kitchen again even though it has taken me YEARS to finally accept that. If you pick a good product and installed correctly, I think I can pull off the wood look fairly well without the worry. Oddly enough I sold my neighbors on LVP a few years back and they pick a homedepot product and I hated it. They also didn't like it as they replaced it recently. However, we have coretec spc in a coastal home and I have no issues with sound or hollow feel.

@Techi I can't find hallmark carmarilla oak near me so I had to send off for tiny samples. But your floor look beautiful. Hows the feel/sound?

@V M and Rashmi Reddy, yes you are correct, the LVP we chose is almost as much as real hardwood floors (we installed solid hardwood floors throughout our previous home a few years ago). BUT I feel that you get what you pay for…the SPC makes the flooring so quiet to walk on. I also picked SPC for the stronger durability to withstand dents caused by furniture weight sometimes. We have two large dogs and three boys, a pool and I’m at that stage in life where I’m done running to clean up and maintain hardwood floors. I’m in So Florida so not a lot of folks use hardwood here due to the humidity. Good luck with your search and again, I highly recommend ordering a box and laying it out in your space :-)

Joining this conversation because we are wanting to replace our engineered hardwood ( should call it soft wood - it has scratched and dented and sealing coming off but it is 15 years old with lots of pets!)
We recently covered our stairs and upstairs bonus room with Mohawk Revwood laminate and we couldn’t believe how strong it is! We have an Aussie/shepherd mix dog and she’s very active with dog bones etc. no scratches at all!
When she is downstairs on the EHWood there are scratches everywhere!

@Stacy Norris how are you liking your floor? I’m looking at the exact Mohawk product you used, even the color. Does the floor make popping noises? Does it sound hollow?

We love our floors - It doesn’t sound hollow to me but I guess it just depends on where it is. Ours are upstairs and in a large bonus room. I can hear my daughter throw a large bone and hear the dog chasing it and the beauty is because it’s not soft hardwood, it leaves no scratches. I couldn’t believe it when I went up there that there were no scratches.

Thank you, Stacy! We had laminate about 8 years ago (balterio) in a different house and although beautiful, it was awful with popping and cracking noises. We’re a little worried about going back with laminate but it’s great to hear from people who use Mohawk and love it.

We just recently put the same product in our downstairs guest room ( turned cat room ) cause we wanted something waterproof.
Laminate has come a long way. I don’t notice any noises.

For those of you considering LVP, I can’t stress enough how important the installation process needs to be. IMO the flooring is great—durable, beautiful, comfortable to walk on, etc. We are having issues because the contractor we used was incompetent and our floors are now buckling. Thankfully it’s can be fixed without completely replacing, it’s just the inconvenience and extra $$ we’re paying because I don’t trust him to fix it. Make sure you’re installer know what he’s doing.

I absolutely agree with you. We did a kitchen remodel and had our contractor install LVP, Trends brand. He did not properly level the subfloor and now the floor is cracking everywhere. We are going to go with LVP again and of course a different installer, but this time Hallmark - Courtier collection. We have old linoleum in the kitchen/dining, and it does not come off at all due to glue and it's from the late 70's. I'm hoping he's able to still put leveler on this.

Did you already have the hallmark courier LVP flooring installed - If so , how was your experience and what color did you go with ?
