Fix or replace stove?

Hello!

we’ve been having issues with our induction stove, came with the place we purchased so we aren’t sure exactly how old the stove is but the information I was given, was to estimate it was purchased in mid to late 2012. Its a basic induction oven and I believe it was purchased for about $1800.

we are having multiple issues - beeping, shuts off on its own, won’t heat past a certain temperature, etc. There are only two places in my city that can repair it and both will charge $200 just to diagnose the problem. I think it may need a new motherboard but I’m not sure. Would you fix or replace it?

Whirlpool. Manufacture date is 21st week (May 21-25) of 2012 (in Mexico).

Normal model-year coding indicates 1999 but the syntax may be different on this item. Whirlpool has produced some models for years (my parents have a 1995-model wall oven that was produced in 2005) ... but a different syntax for yours indicates 2012, so that's more reasonable.

Model numbers are typically coded for the year of market introduction. Serial numbers are coded for the manufacturing date, usually year and month.

I actually have one of those in a rental unit. The motherboard blew a thermal fuse. The motherboard was declared dead, because of a fuse. It is under warranty so I had it repaired, the company that repaired it took several weeks and simply replaced the motherboard. Since they bought a new interface board they went ahead and replaced that to. I kept all the old parts and repaired the old board. All it needed was a new fuse and a new fan. The fan failed which caused the fuse to blow.

All that to say if you plan on going back with an induction unit, the repair would be cheaper than a new range. It's not a bad range, but hardly one I would recommend. It works fine aside from the cook top interface, which I am not a fan of. The oven is one of the better ones on a consumer unit. If your budget allows for a new unit, then get a new one. If finances are tight and you want to squeeze a few more years out of this one, then repair it. Probably not the definitive answer you were looking for, however since everyone's finances are different, this I feel is the best answer given the limited information I have. Hope this is helpful.

Most of what you have got described seems like terrible installation and incompetent techs and no longer system issues as you can see. That is why I advocate getting a refund. The exceptional HVAC system will in no way work well if became installed incorrectly.
