Try using rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. If you are worried try an inconspicuous spot first. If alcohol doesn’t work try a little WD40 on a paper towel and wipe with the direction of the grain. Look at paper towel and when you see red you know you are on the right track.

I don't know if I would use either on hardwood, 100% definitely not WD-40, its an oil and will probably stain the floor worse. Are these prefinished or site finished floors? Who put down the building board?

Prefinished. I put it down before my cabinet installers came in. I didn't know I had to do QA on materials that were meant to protect your floors! 😕 I know better now. I won't be using this brand anymore!

Do you know what type of finish is on the flooring? That will help tell what you can or cannot use potentially to clean the stain off.

I know it has an aluminum oxide coating.

Mineral spirits on a clean white cloth, not allowing it to soak but gently wipe, then do the same with a water dampened white cloth to clean it would be what I would use.

I suppose I could mark up one of my scraps with this blotch and check the finish! Thanks! 😊

Sounds like a plan. Just a little red marker or even lipstick should be good to run the test.

If, the mineral spirit doesn't work. Use Clorox wipes to remove dyes or diluted Clorox. It is risky with the oil finish that you have.
