Using a thinner Sheet for cabinet doors than carcass thickness

Hi! I am a beginner in cabinet making, just trying to make a cabinet on my own.

My question is:

Is it ok if the door is thinner than the carcass thickness?

Example: I am making frame of cabinet with 18mm block board, and if I make door in 15mm or 12mm , is that ok? or is there a limit to how thick the cabinet doors can be in relation to the carcass thickness? or does it depend on the concealed hinge circle cutout depth?

Yes you can, but you have to use a shallow cup hinge.

Our standard case is 19mm, and the door is 19mm+. For our standard soft close hinge, we drill 12mm deep.

A Salice shallow cup hinge requires only 8mm depth.

so have to check hinge cutout depth before buying wood for door making. Got it! I guess for drawers its ok, the door size I mean. would have to check rail width before making box.

The reaason for decreasing door thickness is to reduce cost as much as possible.
