1. I think meatball shrubs look goofy and artificial.

2. Whatever you decide to plant, set it at least 2’ farther away from the house than you think you should.

The plants don't look like something adorning the building, but something that is trying to compete with the building for attention.

To my eye the stonework is too fussy and the house can’t decide if it’s a Georgian mansion or a ruined medieval farmhouse. The shrubs just make it more of a mishmash.

If the lower stonework can’t be changed I’d cover it with low growing shrubs. There’s a place for topiary but it isn’t here.

Perhaps show the entire facade of the house for total landscape advice. The topiary is ridiculous.

True, we would need to see a much wider view of the house in order to know which way to go with this. I'm not complaining about the stonework as I believe it's workable. I wouldn't want to cover it up. When it comes to the "bay window" structure, in order to enhance it as a feature, I think it's best to surround it with a solid, uniform plant material. In this case it wouldn't be too high so that the stone could show. But the bottom of the stone definitely needs to be covered.

If the OP wants to show more of the house, please remove the plants from the picture if they are not already planted. Place the camera in line with the front door, just back far enough to see the roof and the ground, and take a series of slightly overlapping photos that show from left side lot line to right side lot line.

BTW to the OP, while some comments might sound blunt or even harsh, they are not meant with ill will but only as a way of establishing what needs to be overcome in order so that progress can be made. And there's never a guaranty that any one comment is correct. It's up to the OP to sort through and evaluate the advice.
