My arboretum, 2009 and 2019. Creating an open woodland/forest over a projected 20 year span. Via an intense management of my estate plant life. Beginning in 1966 I’ve created 4 arboretums In Nashville TN. This Level 4 Arboretum I began in 2005, as www.WhiteHouseArboretum.com

My oldest trees I planted in the 1960’s got huge and have mostly been cut down. But I still have a 90 foot Dawn Redwood in Nashville, Tennessee, along with many mature trees of various species. I’m not sure why I began planting and studying trees since I was 5 or so. i think a grand uncle who we visited in the 1950’s, as he homesteaded, May have influenced me. He was born in the 1800’s and planted many nut trees on his land. Land he bought after coming home from fighting in WW1. I loved watching him and listening to him.

You’ve been at this a long time and it shows. Did you own the arboretum properties or did you have another connection to them? In any case, it’s impressive. A birds eye view is nice, but some ground level pictures would be welcome.

In aother 10 years and you won't even be able to see your pool or house with the trees. And if you ever wanted to plant a garden you probably won't be able to cuz you will need sunshine. Exactly why I removed the trees on my 2 acre lot. I'm planted a lot of crepe myrtles and have a lot of those privacy things but mine are thugas(green giant).

At first I was wondering why you where calling this an arboretum based on the pics. Your map made me realize you own all that property with the two ponds.

Nice tree list by the way. I second ground level pics - specifically your paperbark maple.

I checked your site and all the photos. Wow! I'm in awe of this arboretum and all the trees you've planted there. This is something that will last for generations to come.
