Bullet-Proof Roses for Central Maryland

Does anyone have recommendations for shrub roses that won't defoliate in our humid Maryland summers? I've tried several David Austin varieties (Heritage, Eglantyne, and Sharifa Asma). They all look beautiful in the Spring but defoliate horribly in the Summer. I just planted an Olivia Rose Austin this Spring, so will see how she does.

I would prefer a scented rose, but my priority is something that will look good all season. I don't spray, which I know makes this more difficult.

Side note: If anyone is interested in a climbing rose, Laguna is beaufitul! I've had it for two years. It keeps it's leaves and has prolific blooms in the Spring.

Thank you!
