In my area, a radon test is done with every inspection (maybe this happens everywhere? Not sure.) My house is newly on the market, so I ordered a short-term test kit just to be prepared; in case I have to do any mitigation I'd prefer to find out before an inspection is done (should I get an offer - crossing fingers.)

After reading the instructions I'm unsure where to place it. I thought I'd put it in the storage room (see mockup below), which is the most basement-y part of the lower level. It's below an addition and the only part of the basement that is unfinished. (The addition is also why I have 2 sump pumps.)

However, the instructions say not to put in a closet, crawl space, or sump. (Doesn't say 'sump room', just 'sump.') Not sure whether my storage area would be considered a crawl space - it has a concrete floor and walls, and approx 6'4" ceilings.

So I'm wondering where in the lower level an inspector is likely to do a radon test, or if I should order another one (or two) and test in a few places.

FYI I did the test ~10 years ago when my late husband was diagnosed with cancer (he was only 50 and in excellent health until then so we were searching for answers.) The test came back indicating no radon issue (low levels) but I know this can change over time.

Would appreciate any advice on where to put the test kit. Thanks!
