It could be Washingtonia. It's location suggests to me that it may be a volunteer. I would ask the landlord for permission to cut it down. They are lousy in California. This is what the seedling looks like.

Many people like them but that is not a good location for a tree.

Yes that's not a Washingtonia. I agree with Embothrium. Since you are renting I would not worry about it unless you plan to be there for 3-5+ years. Then Ask the landlord to rip it out. It does look like a volunteer.

Do everyone a favor and just remove it now. Keep an eye out for other seedlings and pull them immediately. Our landlords always loved having us as tenants, because we would just take care of things. Why make the landlord hire someone to take care of such an easily-fixed problem, or wait until wall damage and expensive measures are required?

The landlord will take care of it. My rent already includes the price of gardening, so technically I’m paying for it. I offered to do the gardening myself before, for a cut in the rent, but the landlord has a deal with the Gardner who takes care of other of his properties too. Ps. The palm was already pretty big when I moved in...for “curve-appeal“ maybe?

When it gets too big, it doesn't add to curb appeal, and palm can't be pruned for size. It you cut off the top, it's toast. If there are other palms in the neighborhood, it may have grown from a wayward seed.
