Attached carport / garage

Hello, I want to build a sloped roof carport... maybe build it into a garage someday adjoining the house. I'm debating making it freestanding with a 4x6 post at each end, attaching it to the house, or a combination thereof. The length of the line will be about 24 feet which I know is too long for a single span of regular lumber. I'm leaning toward making it freestanding as I could use the corner posts to start framing off of, but in the center I'd rather not use a support post unless absolutely necessary. I don't think it would look good and may be in the way of the car door, but will do it if I absolutely have to. I also have the gutters and power cable to consider. I know I'd have to flash against the house to join the roof.

IMO adding a carport or garage there will have a huge effect on light inside. I also think we need a lot more pictures of the house and some idea of what you think you want it to look like.

Thanks for the attention. I didn't want to put much effort into it in case no one was watching. I added a view from the front with the basic idea of the slope of the roof and post. Because of the trees, I'm going to use 3 posts on the side away from the house to minimize root damage. No footer, no floor. That would be on the side of the house. I currently have a rear entry garage that I will minimize and gain a whole lot of back yard. I'm not too concerned with the 2 windows I will be covering. One is a bathroom and one is my office where I sit right now. The smallest 2 rooms in the house.

here is the house from the street. the proposed carport/garage would be on the right side. Right now there is a drive going down that side of the house to the rear integrated garage. There's a lot of asphalt in the back I'd like to tear out in favor of grass. I want to build for a few reasons. One is that I want a minimum width 19' from the house to stay away from the nearby large oak trees as much as possible. They are extremely large. The other reason I'd want to construct is that we will see how this goes as a carport. But I want the option open to add walls and garage doors at a later date. Photo standing on the street and you can see the big oaks that I'm trying to minimize damage to. The existing asphalt drive goes over their roots right next to them and I'd like to be able to uncover all that. Where the truck is sitting would be near the outside edge of the proposed carport. There would be room to fit one other car between it and the house.
