Your hood will have a light too and will also create more shadowing from above, your best resolve here would to to use track or rail light, both are easy install for you.

No, I don’t have any hardwiring there which is the problem. They are “magic lights” which are puck lights with a pvc attachment glued on so I can insert them into the sconces.

I am going to see other options, I keep looking at them and I hate them every minute I look at them.

But again, the track lighting or rail lighting would need hard wiring, which I don’t have and would need to go into the attic etc.

yes google plug in track adapter. you can buy them with a cord, but it is usually thick, I used 18-2 lamp cord in the length you need and put an inline switch or you can buy a wall plug that works a remote switch.

What does that mean? There is a ceiling light you aren't using? Is there attic access?

If you have a center light then run a track light with 5 heads ideally one that can be done not in a starightline. Use LEDs in 4000K for the bulbs those lights you have will not be anywhere near enough lighting Get an electrician it will save you money in the long run

I am using the ceiling light and there is attic access. The ceiling light is not in the center it is off center meaning not in the center of the kitchen.

I missed the off center ceiling juntion box, post a picture that shows where that is. yes you can create an L or any shape really to get it centered but depending on where i is that maybe a non issue.

Patricia and Hallett are saying to replace the current off-center fixture with track lighting. You are using the same wiring, but track lighting will allow you to flexibly distribute multiple track heads where you need them instead of being limited to on off-center light.
