I had great luck using an independent installer and buying through his account at Cheney's in Plymouth. Have ordered wood flooring, carpet and vinyl at good savings. He has retired but you should still be able to find a similar setup. Note: you must pick up at the loading dock. Usually the instller picked materials up in his van. When I got pallets of wood flooring I rented a truck with lift from Enterprise Trucks in Eagen.

I paid his regular installation fee, plus a small fee if he picked up, but no markup on the material.

There is also a small place in the s part of Hopkins that had some nice woods offered at good prices but I can't remember the name.

Many years ago Dewey, the owner of River Valley Woodworks did a super job of building new cabinet doors and refacing cabinets in a large kitchen. Very easy to work with and good follow through.

PS Make sure to put in very good windows. My architect son likes Marvin Integrity. I have used them in a house and was very satisfied. Cheap windows are no bargin...I learned that on my first build!
