also.. when i see stone.. i always wonder if there is landscape fabric under it ... if so.. thats another watering issue ...

I think you are right about the stone. I did a more careful examination of the plant and noticed the stone is all mixed with the dirt below and the plant has been trying to grow roots around the stones. That can't be a good growing environment for this pepper!

I originally I had wanted to plant it directly in the ground because I read this pepper can grow to the size of a small tree and live a decade! But I don't have a lot of places to put it. What I decided to do was transplant the pepper into a 10 gallon grow bag. At least I can be fairly confident it will start growing and do well in there even if it won't reach the same monster size it would in the ground!

Given the fact the plant has basically done nothing for months, I am curious to see what happens to it in its new home and if it finally starts flourishing within a few weeks!

it will flourish.. hopefully ... after it gets over the stresses .. pre existing.. and the transplanting ...

it might be a few weeks... but it might be a few months ...

i would put it in full bright shade.. to shorten/lessen said stresses ... and then harden it back off once it gets going again ...

so if the rocks worked their way into the soil ... then i guess there isnt any fabric under there???
