Overwintering potted Mac Hydrangeas

I potted up my Everlasting Hydrangea that wouldn't bloom in the garden. I am thinking that the 2 hours of morning sun that it got in the ground was just not enough to bloom. I did try numerous methods of wrapping; caging with leaves, etc. over the winter with no luck. So I planted it in a large pot and I want to bring the pot inside but just trying to decide if the garage or the cold cellar would be better. The garage goes down to about 10-15 degrees BELOW freezing in mid winter at times. The cold cellar goes down to only one or two degrees ABOVE freezing. Not sure if this matters, but the cold cellar is totally dark whereas the garage has a window. Which spot should I try? Thanks!
