Bosch is on backorder & we need a dishwasher! What to do??

Due to the pandemic, Bosch dishwasher production is operating below normal (for social distancing on the line within the factory). It's on backorder everywhere, and wouldn't you know our dishwasher just leaked water on our floor! (Fortunately, it alarmed and we were nearby to grab towels.) I've been awaiting this moment for the longest time! The moment when I could replace our dishwasher with a Bosch!

We normally run 2 loads a day, and I really don't want to go 3 months without a dishwasher, waiting for the Bosch of my dreams! My husband wants to spend the $250 (plus parts) to get our current one repaired, but we've already did that last year (replacing the drain pump). Now it seems the wash motor is leaking (says tech support). I feel we must move on. But to what? (I had so wanted the new Zeolite drying feature from Bosch!) We do not have Miele-knowledgeable service support in our area, or I would get a Miele.

So, which would y'all recommend?

Repair what we have? Handwash and wait for Bosch? Kitchen Aid dishwasher? Or something else?

@missb_remodeling I checked with the customer service rep of Bosch and provided my store's PO number. I was informed delivery is expected to my store the last week of August. I am going to hold out until then but not longer than that. I figured what's three more months when I have already waited 11 months. @HU-374374986 thank you for providing the contact information. It was very helpful! Good luck everyone!

Bosch has thousands of unfilled panel ready orders and is currently not manufacturing the model. I've waited 14 months and am moving to Miele since it has a similar panel size.

Has anybody actually received a Bosch dishwasher in the last year? Reading this it seems like they are at an absolute standstill and for those of us on back order the queue is not getting any shorter.

@terpom none of the orders since Q4 2020 has been manufactured/shipped/fulfilled for my appliance dealer(confirmed with bosch directly and dealer). I was told, by Bosch reps, to wait till next year. Sadly, I'm stuck with last year's model and was told they were focusing on the newer models first.

Is the thermador emerald model any good? I'm able to source these locally; however, I want the crystal dry technology/price point with Bosch.

@Jeff Ranger the custom panel for that model should fit with the Thermador emerald. You can see that they share the same specs for panel size on the installation instruction manuals. As long as your door was purchase and/or made within that tolerance. Thermador panel size can be found at the bottom of the product spec sheet:

Vincent, the Sapphire model has StarDry, which is CrystalDry, if you are willing to cough up the added funds and can find a model. I love my CrastalDry.

We’re in Bosch purgatotory, too. The retailer canceled our 800 series dishwasher order this past weekend and we can’t even place a new order elsewhere right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for options that would’t look terrible with the Bosch 800 series appliances in black stainless steel that we already purchased for our renovation?

I received my Bosch 800 dishwasher in March. I had ordered it in September 2021 and checked in with my dealer regularly. There was a batch released.

    I love my GE.

A few months ago we were checking and were able to find the Bosch 800s available at Lowe's and Home Depot. Maybe check the big box stores as well as local appliance stores. Meanwhile, we're still holding out hope that the Miele dishwasher we ordered in June 2021 actually arrives at the end of June (2022) for our new build.

We got the Thermador Emerald Dishwasher (previously had Bosch) a few months ago. We love it! Still waiting on our Thermador range. Suppose to be installed in September.

Abt has available inventory of Bosch dishwashers.

@jugalava Our Miele dishwasher arrived this May, we ordered it May 2021. I love it! it was worth the wait

Abt doesnt have 800 panel ready units

I ordered Bosch panel ready in April 2021. Still waiting. If I went with another model I would have to replace the panel for $350. We have been hand washing dishes or taking them to the office to wash for months. This is ridiculous.

I ordered a Bosch Panel ready dishwasher from Fergusons in July 2021 with an expected ETA of 6 months and It is almost a year. I am told by Bosch employees "If the Regional Sales Rep does not have an ETA available at this time, your dealer may check back with them at a later date. We have checked of course but that does not help when the date is a MOVING TARGET. Blake Evergettis is NO help at all blake.evergettis@bshg.com. Bosch Customer care does not exist. Blake is just another robot in the Bosch chain. Honestly from Bosch from the beginning would have given us all choices to move to another brand. Bosch continues to move delivery dates and that is a deceptive way to do business. Does anyone have another way to get in touch with Bosch other than "Bosch Care" low level employees like Blake that do nothing & know nothing? Employees like Blake that will not give you anyone higher to speak with.

My local (high end) appliance shop told me last month that Bosch was having issues with a specific heater part. If that's still the case, it is a global issue that Bosch can only solve by actually getting stock of the part.

You might check with your contact at Fergusons to see if they've heard of this issue too.

Do you folks all really believe that appliance manufacturers (Bosch isn't the only one having issues) are holding-back on production to purposely spite customers and are reveling in the angry feedback they're receiving?

I am going to re-post some information I added a few months ago in case you missed it.

If you have not previously done so, you should definitely write an e-mail explaining your situation to:

    Leslie,

It looks like Jessica may have moved on from working at Bosch. Sorry about that, I am just passing helpful information. I did some research and found her bosses who seem to still be working at Bosch.

Switching to MIele panel ready Dishwasher and having it installed next week after a year wait and NO dishwasher from Bosch. The same panel will fit. Bosch needs to gut their customer service department. They are in demand for now, do not care and it shows.

I'm tired of these companies who are treating their customers badly. Bosch dishwashers had a good reputation but they aren't available. What other dishwashers ate good and available?

Thermador! May be available at Best Buy.

@ari123, you do realize that we are still in a pandemic and that supply chains are heavily disrupted as a result?

Common electronic parts are simply unavailable. Lead times are often quoted for one or two years from now, if you want to buy basic integrated circuits. And outstanding orders regularly get cancelled or simply won't be filled.

In this particular case, Bosch is competing with Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW for the exact same chips. And good luck buying any of those cars right now either. Huge waiting times if you order today. Most manufacturers only sell their top-of-the-line models and delivery of mainstream models has come to a stop. And even the cars that are available frequently still have features disabled, because all the necessary parts don't exist.

Bosch is just another victim. They'd love to sell you their goods, but if their orders for components get cancelled on them, there is nothing they can do. Everybody suffers from the same shortage.

Either keep waiting or buy whatever happens to be in the store that day. Things are gradually getting better, but it'll still be a few months/years before everything normalizes. And imported models by definition are going to face even more challenges is supply logistics don't work right

We ended up ordering a Thermador with a custom panel from Best Buy after Lowe’s cancelled our Bosch order. Expected delivery date for the Thermador has been pushed back from August to October. The Best Buy site says current ETA is August but customer service confirmed that’s not correct for my area.

Update: Just received confirmation that my Bosch Custom Panel Dishwasher arrived at my local appliance dealer's warehouse and scheduled for delivery. I nearly shouted with joy over the phone. Goodluck Everyone.

    Ordered: Feb 2021

We just bought a stainless front Bosch 100 series to hold us over until Miele is able to supply in 40-50 weeks.

Came upon this thread and I am going through the same thing. Replacing my 23 year old gaggenau and would like to use the existing panel on the new one. the only bosch I can get is the 100 series ($849). I can also get the emerald series thermador for $1399. Which would you choose?

    thermadore

After 14 months I finally received my Bosch model SHPM88Z75N today! I have to say the contact provided by @HU-374374986 was very accurate. She gave me an arrival date of August 23-28 and today is the 25th. My store called on Tuesday and stated they received only 4 but had ordered 25. I wish everyone the best of luck!!!

I ordered Bosch dishwasher SHPM78Z55N back in April 2022. Is it unrealistic to expect by end of this year? My independent dealer says no ETA. I'm getting anxious.

Hi Susan, sorry you are experiencing this same issue that we are have gone through. I think the only people who can tell you about the expectations is Bosch themselves. I would recommend you reach out to the Bosch contact provided by @HU-374374986 in this thread. As you can see most of us have waited anywhere between 9-14 months, maybe more. Perhaps things have changed since then. I am unsure. When I contacted the Bosch rep she was very accurate in providing a date of shipment. Thus far I am quite please with the power and results of this machine and although it was painful, I am glad that I waited. Best of luck to you!

Thermadore dishwashers are made by Bosch.

@aelf thank you! I contacted Bosch a month ago and they would't give me an ETA without a PO# which my dealer would not provide. Interestingly, contrary to what you said, my dealer who is reputable and has been doing this for decades says Bosch will give a date but then update it to a later date and repeats this until it finally arrives. I'll check again w/ my dealer. Crossing my fingers for some good news.

    I ordered Bosch shpm65z55n in may 2021

Today it was finally delivered and installed, only 17 months later.

@Jeff Goldmann Was it worth the looong wait?

I think so. We had a 22 year old Maytag still in good working condition. ButBtButBButBtButBButButB

But the pull out dish racks were falling apart with rust. The new Bosch sure looks good with the stainless steel interior.

@Jeff Goldmann, I can't believe you had to wait that long! My local Home Depot has them in stock. I went to Home Depot last month to compare the the one you got and the SHPM78Z55N. I ordered online the next day and had it delivered and installed within the week.

Our previous dishwasher was quite loud and we have an open concept kitchen/living room. I can't get over how quiet the new dishwasher is. I'm really happy with it's drying ability too. Being able to move the second rack up or down is handy as well.

I ordered a Bosch SHPM88Z75N dishwasher in July, 2021. Still have not received, is it worth the wait. Keep getting excuses and it gets pushed back month after month. Understand a pandemic, but over 1.5 years for a dishwasher? Is Bosch worth it, as I have no confidence with them.

Personally, I went with a Kitchen Aid instead (didn't want to wait), and others on this very long thread have opted for other brands, too. Basically, you want a machine to do a cleaning service for you. Just like with people, if the first cleaner you ask is still unavailable after 1.5 years, I would definitely move on.

We also ordered in July of 2021 and just received it last month. It was the 800 series but I do not know the exact number off hand. I expect you should get it very soon.

@Susan W i would be concerned that the dealer doesnt waht to help you and provide a PO number. My dealer also said Bosch woukd give a date tgen change it, but they had no issue providing the PO number and thanked me for obtaining the delivery date. i would try to obtsin the PO number again. you have the right to know. after all they have your money. when i contacted Bosch the date they gave me was spot on.. Also have to be certsin that the deaker does not give the supply received to someone else. I absolutely love my Bosch! i cant compare it to the others but i must say it has been spectatcular! You can place plastics anywhere and my pits and pans come out sparkling clean! it‘s very quiet and the stainless steel interior not only helps with drying but also has a luxury appearance.

    On month 15 now for
SHX88PZ65N . If I did not want water softener, Crystal Dry and upgraded racks on all 3 levels I could find a cheaper Bosch in stock. Hoping within another 6 months.

Update: As a stop gap, we bought a brand new GE dishwasher off Facebook Marketplace and it was a boss! 3 months later, our Bosch came in so I sold the GE and kept the Bosch. Boy do I ever wish that I kept the GE. Others in this thread have stated they got one at Home Depot. The main difference in what I ordered v. the Home Depot model is that I had a panel ready. The panel cost $400 and wouldn't fit another dishwasher so I would have been out an additional $400 on top of the $1200 dishwasher. This Bosch is impossible to load and doesn't clean well at all. Lesson learned. I'll never buy Bosch again.

Melissa, sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. I will agree the Bosch can be a chellenge to load at times. But it also depnds upon your dishware. What cycle are you using. What detergent? My experience has been my Bosch has cleaned like no other dishwasher I've had in the last 46 years, includig my 1987 GE Potscrubber GSD1200.

My family has had Miele dishwashers since at least he mid 1970s, and I have universally been extremely happy with them. We love the current model that we have. Couldn't clean better, is easy to load, and has a surprisingly huge capacity for this busy family.

We also have a Kitchenaid in the in-law unit, and I look at it with disdain. It is everything I don't like in a dishwasher.

I have used various Bosch models over the years. And they are somewhere in between. If you have dishes that fit their arrangement of tines and holders, it works pretty OK overall. It doesn't wash quite as reliably as the Miele, but then it also costs a good amount less. And all the Bosch that I have tried, are a huge improvement over the Kitchenaid.

So, if money is no concern, and if supply chains work, I would always opt for Miele. Bosch is a good fallback option, though. But try your own plates and pots in it before you commit to the purchase.

We bought a new Bosch to hold us over between Miele's. The Bosch was 3 months of pure frustration from loading issues due to poor rack layout which then resulted in chipped dishes and glassware. Cleaning and drying were marginal after long cycle times.

We happily sold the Bosch on CL for 50% of what we paid when our backordered Miele 7366SCVi came it. This latest Miele is hands down the best of now the third one. Loading is natural opposed to forced with perfect results in far less time.

I have a Bosch that fits my dishes perfectly! It's as if Bosch came into my home and took inventory of the type of dishes I use and how many I used each day. My Bosch cleans just fine and I love the pop-open door for extra drying, which works just great! I always wash on the speed-60 short cycle. Never had a dish chip yet.
