Shape of pool.. rectangle or lagoon?

Can anyone weigh in on what shape would look nice in our backyard? We have a wide open rural property with lots of space. We're thinking of an 18 x 36 lagoon shape but I'm.open to ideas. We are doing it ourselves so thinking rectangle might be easier and less expensive. Thanks in advance!
