I'm jealous!!..last summer my feeder developed rusty screws so I threw it away..I planned to get another one but 2020 has been crazy and I never did..I should get one now so I'm ready for next year..hummingbirds are wonderful..

I wish I could put up feeders but my cats are mostly outdoor cats. (Long story....born outdoors and settled in my yard. They are all “fixed “ and taken care of) but I would not want to serve the hummers up on a silver platter. Love seeing them at my aunts house when I visit.

I watch mine fight too. We have a "watch" bird who is a male and he sits on a branch nearby and drives anyone who dares to come to the feeder away. They can be really mean to eachother. I had 8, 2 pairs and they had 2 babies each. The babies, there were 3 boys and 1 girl, left last week and I just have 4 adults left. I will miss them when they leave in 2 weeks. I do leave my feeders up thru the 1st week or so of Oct for any that may be migrating thru from up north.

the observation is great... wish there were someway to capture it on video ...

but the conclusion is brilliant ... who would have suspected such .. lol ...

My last 2 females left 2 Mondays ago but I left my feeder up. I was happy to see a visiting immature male at the feeder when I was working on the front porch getting my pots of plants that have to move into the sunroom for the winter ready to go inside. He seemed tired and just sat there softly peeping and drinking and wasn't afraid of me. He stayed for 3 days. I hope a few more find their way to the feeder.

there are a ton of morning glory vines with blooms on our burn pile. The pile is made up of this year's downed trees, sticks etc. and about 6 ft high and 8 ft wide but I won't burn until after frost so the last hummers and butterflies can get a little nourishment. The burn pile is always surrounded and covered with flowers from volunteer seedlings from spring clean up. It is a very pretty burn pile!

Having them year round would be great. We would spend about 30 mins sitting on the front porch before sunset watching them get their last feeding before bedtime and just enjoying nature.

My conclusion is . . . I need a hummingbird feeder!
