It's time to replace our old IKEA Ektorp sofa, which we've had in our living room for the past 7+ years. I want to downsize from a full-size sofa to an apartment/loveseat sized sofa (something around 70") and I'm torn between buying another IKEA sofa, like the Färlöv loveseat, or upgrading to Crate and Barrel's Willow Apartment Sofa. That being said, the Willow is more than double the Färlöv! Though we can afford the Willow, I do hesitate at spending *so* much money for a piece of furniture--and yes, I know there are sofas out there that cost substantially more than the CB one. Back in 2012, when we bought our original Ektorp sofa, it fit our style and more importantly, it fit our budget then. Times change and styles evolve though and the Ektorp, besides being worn out (with two broken springs), no longer fits our needs.

One of the things which always bothered us about the Ektorp line was the somewhat shallow seats (19.25"), whereas both the Färlöv (25.25") and the Willow (23") are deeper. The styling on both is also more streamlined and contemporary, which appeals to our current aesthetic. Aside from that though, I feel like we could be happy with either. I do find the Willow to be more comfortable, but I really just want a sofa that'll last us at least 6+ years without falling apart. I have no desire to own an upholstered piece of furniture for 10+ years to be completely honest.

I guess my question is: should we splurge on the more expensive CB sofa ($1,500+) or stay with IKEA ($749), and does the difference in quality justify the huge price jump?
