Silica, Millet and me have been on forums from way back, old garden web and the dedicated Old citrus forum with Laaz and Laaz new one.

Dave, it’s not for me. I am talking about a forum with some members with a lot of knowledge to help out, there are a few out there that are in that category, as a matter of fact, they like for us to drift towards their forum, but that will not happen with this group.

Will say this, those guys will not go back to this garden web because it’s a business.

Tropical fruit forum members don’t really like members like me, zone 7. They get nothing from me, they really don’t care what you write.

I am a one forum guy with a bunch of dedicated members that become friends( long term).

Well I hope you don’t leave Bob. I’ve learned so much from many of you! I attribute my trees health directly to the knowledge many of you have imparted.

Laura, it gets a little frustrating for me and others here to deal with one timers, than disappear. Old timers do the same. Showing pictures with some text how they care for their tree’s would be nice. Maybe they have a secret they don’t want to share. I do pictures with explaining how to,s.

Steve, you are filling a void with cold hardy rootstock, I have no interest for rootstock because I have enough trees to deal with. Keeping my herd in shape is enough for me.

I have reach my limit. I love to see more aggressive younger members here but it’s hard to recruit new ones.

Hi bob dont lose hope I think there will be a time where everyone will come back and share again I think a lot of people are dealing with a lot of things with the pandemic and some losing their jobs and now being full time with their kids staying at home it’s a lot to juggle at the moment. I myself have been dealing with some health problems that came up but I still love coming here and seeing everyone contribute I must say thought it’s a little thin with pictures recently! I did just do a lot of grafts one a Buddha’s hand just for practice sakes for when my Seville sour orange produces rootstock :) stick around bob I think everyone will come back. I must say there aren’t many citrus forums out there! And most new people just come here for questions and leave but I think there are tons of great members here including yourself!

I will contribute this is my Santa Theresa that I repotted into a huge pot with promix hp and trimmed it to the main trunk not too long ago and it’s looking full and beautiful again now! It was barely growing before! I always just sprinkle a little bit of jacks professional fertilizer before every single watering and water every few days it’s been fine! I also repotted a whole bunch of citrus that were in promix hp last year to find really beautiful thick white roots and all root bound! I never would’ve learned about so much and how to grow if not for this forum so I’m very grateful!

Same with my cocktail grapefruit and so many others!

My sugarbelle is starting to get too huge Fruits are few though since last year was a bumper crop I’m thinking it produces Every other year maybe I should thin?

Btw bob beautiful trees so much fruit! Mine seem to just produce tons of leaves this year few fruit wonder if I’m doing something wrong with the fertilizer

Just a note, some of us lurk, and seldom post anything, because we're still struggling with our first tree. Though on the other hand, yes, GW is dying...I think it's only a matter of time.
I do not see FB as being an acceptable replacement. Much noise, very little signal, and no way to organize and search (well nearly no way...).

Jan, there are a few strong members who contribute a lot, you are one of them, Amy is another one, Steve another, Silica has a solid knowledge and always there to help, Dave, and just a few others and than it dries out. Can’t forget Mike, he has his hands full, just a longtime good guy. If they leave, they must have a good reason. I get used to come and go members.

Citrus forum used to be lot more active for sure and still is to some extent. Besides citrus I check into House plants and Container Forums too. Container forum has slowed down too. House plants has lot of traffic but the topics are about the same plant with the same problems. Cacti forum is quite active too. Maples, figs, Plumeria, fragrant plants and other forums are very seasonal. And Bonsai forum here is practically dead and has been like that for a while.

I like the citrus forum here, it is focussed on one species, people are diverse and discusses a lot horticultural topics. Before joining I had no idea how large is the sheer number of varieties. Came to know a lot about grafting and the large varieties of rootstocks. In India, we have a lot of limes, lemon, oranges that grow naturally but seems like there is no interest in anything besides that. Almost every house will have their mandatory citrus tree in ground but that is about it.

Honestly, the most inspiring group I've had the pleasure to meet was when there was a Southeastern Citrus Expo down in Virginia Beach back in -- maybe it was 2009 or so. Can't remember the exact year. But there were citrus growers from all over the Southeast -- except for Florida -- they didn't count. LOL! Mostly from Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia. Some from pretty cold regions (relatively). We toured the backyard of a citrus grower in VA Beach, zone 8a.

They had lectures and also a fruit show. It was just amazing to see the variety of what could be grown in the Southeast! There were also many hardy hybrids. You could taste the fruit and collect seeds, buy plants from a few vendors. It was just great! I have kept in touch with a few of those folks since and have traded plant material, scions, rootstock, etc. Beats a Forum any day.

I'll just bet Bob, that there's a group of Gulf States Citrus growers as well. Who knows? Maybe they'll have a meeting not far from you!

Dave, Silica, I can,t get enough from my own EXPO. You guys, if you show yours, that would be enough to see and would enjoy your achievement. I am constant shaping my trees, it’s something I enjoy doing.

Cleaning garage found these,been with forums since the seventies. If you know something about NAFEX, You should know this guy, got sionwood from him all the time, a very knowledgeable, smart, helpful.
