I was in PURPLE HEAVEN all summer with these beauties!

Wow Celeste! So many wonderful purples. DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE x PARTY EVERY DAY sure makes some great daylilies! I can't begin to choose a favorite. Hopefully they will all do well enough you won't have to decide which ones to eliminate!

Purples, you know I would have a hard time picking favorite, there are so many nuances, I like so many of them.

Well, the Davisson cultivar gave some great plant habit to your seedlings.

The Disturbance in the Force kids are all very nice. But my favorite is your absolute favorite, #24. You're right about the terrific color contrast, and you know I go crazy over white edges. I like the second one a lot too, and the first one in your second group. I bet the near white will look really pretty in a clump. I acquired Disturbance in the Force this Spring, but it didn't bloom. Your seedlings have me super excited about making crosses with it next year. I met the hybridizer of Disturbance in the Force, Will Marchant, at the Region 10 meeting in 2019 and saw a slideshow of his program then. What made me buy DITF was seeing the kid he registered from it called Pitching Woo. Also, he said good things about its being a good parent. I wonder how many of the seedlings you have will be dormant.

Disturbance in the Force has hardly been exciting here. That says nothing about its kids. And I haven't had it that long. I have learned the hard way that just because something is dormant doesn't mean it is a good northern performer.

THANK YOU for all your comments & for appreciating my 'babies'. I was thrilled with that cross. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch and I may end up keeping the majority of them. With great plant habits right out of the gate it makes me wonder what next year will bring! Keeping in mind that 2020 was a bad drought here in NH and I rarely watered them. My registered daylilies did not impress this year, with low bud counts, yet these seedlings had good bud counts. I did record in my journal that one had 26 buds....another had 24. They all had at least 15. Which is considered a lot of buds in my part of the world:) This was a good cross, bringing forth a lot of great qualities of both parents.

Another bonus is that they set seeds easily for me so I can continue to work with this line.

Wow for the size and branching. I still want some NH soil! In that light, I was wondering how purple they will be outside of your great soil. Would the great purple transfer, or be less colorful elsewhere.

Brad, I often wonder that myself. Maybe if some of these multiply well I can send some to forum friends to 'test' out the purple in other soils. BTW, do you want me to send the seeds now or hold them for when you are ready to start them?

I'm planning on planting seeds probably next week, so now would be a good time.

Oh wow, Celeste! Now we know how really great that seedling is. Can’t really tell how big abloom is without something to compare it with.

Celeste, again you post a wonderful group of seedlings! That last photo (the one with your hand in the picture) is amazing. It's really great when you get a group that already have good stats as a first year seedling. It's hard to pick a favorite here, but the the first seedling really grabs me. I love that big green throat with the bluish eye and violet petals. Lovely!
