Julia Child, Home Run and Watercolor Home Run, Appleblossom Flower Carpet and Bull's Eye are pretty much bullet proof here. Prune them in the spring and maybe do a little dead heading once in a while and that's it. And actually both the Home Runs don't like to even be dead headed. They rebloom quicker if I don't. But if you don't they do start to look a little leggy by fall.

Quietness, any Alba rose, Morden Blush, John Davis, all rugosas.

Yellow Brick Road from the Easy Elegance series blooms all the time for me and is pretty cold hardy (3 ft of green cane after the last winter with a minimum temperature of -20 F). And it’s fragrant :)

I loved my Morden Blush when I used to plant roses in the ground! It had massive flushes of gorgeous blooms! I never fertilized...awesome rose!

If you want a zone 2 hardy climber, William Baffin is for you. It gives a lavish spring flush followed up by some repeat. It can get very big, over 12' across, 6'+ each way on a 4' fence.

Quietness is renown for vigor, disease resistance, and winter hardiness.

Hybrid rugosas are reknown for their winter hardiness. The best three from among the 30 odd hybrid rugosas I trialed are: Roseraie de L' Hay, Henry Hudson, and Snow Pavement (aka. Schneekoppe). All three stand heads and shoulders above all the other hybrid rugosas. Check them out.

Also, Cape Diamond is an easy care brute of a rose, quick to repeat, extremely fragrant, and a no spray rose if there ever was one.

Look into the ADR winners...roses that have it all are among them, especially winter hardiness.
