I want to (temporarily) update the tiile aroumd my family room fireplace until I can afford to replace it. At first I was going to paint it a neutral beige or even try to make it look like marble tiles. The tiles are 6x6 inches. Then I debated a peel and stick backsplash or wallpaper that looks like tile or a marble slab. But would you see the grout lines under the peel and stick (maybe not if I don't "press into" it?) or would it look "too" fake? The room is not huge - I'm just trying to make the tiles "disappear" in a neutral way, because I have a very colorful modern art painting above it. Thanks for ideas/suggestions!
