Azalea large black spots on leaves

last modified: 5 years ago

The location is central Florida. Azaleas are tall with pink flowers planted over a year ago from a nursery. Problem: they have medium to large black spots on leaves. The bushes are drip irrigated but have had rain about everyday and it is humid too. They were fertilized two months ago using azalea specific 8-4-8. I have looked at leaves under magnification and can see unidentified clear to white tear-dropped shaped bugs and also noticed a clear six-legged bug (spider?). The bugs are not visible to the naked eye. Does anyone recognize or identify the reason for the leaf spots? Also, the bushes do not seem to be thriving... sparse foilage.
