Beginner with hand embroidery project

I'm starting a project, as a beginner, with a hand embroidery kit. In the photo posted, I know the numbers refer to the color of thread I need to use but the graphic of lines and dots; how do I know which stitch is represented in the key? Thank you in advance!

Since it says stem stitch at the top of your photo, I’m guessing that’s the stitch for these colors. Are are more keys in the directions?

Thank you! That is the only key so use stem stitch but differing variations of that stitch?

You do stem stitch in the color indicated by the line next to it. For instance, the lines made up of tiny dots are done with color 414, and the ones marked with a solid gray line are done with color 666.
