I would move the horse to the bottom. Other ideas are - books either with bookends or stacked flat on top of each other and a small item on top of them, a small plant/greenery. I am doing similar now in my house :) I have also seen people put a tray with a few small items in it in a grouping which looks nice.

I'll post photos of my other areas and let you be the judge; maybe you'll have an easier time of finding a good home for it. We all love it, but it just doesn't seem to work anywhere. I don't think it would be taken out front, but there isn't room for it out there, either.

Love your idea of trying a shallow bowl next to the horse bust! I have this gold coral bowl in my Etsy favorites: https://www.etsy.com/listing/847163955/early-morning-glass-coral-sea-bowl.. do you think it would work next to the horse?

Also, any thoughts on what I'd do to hide the wires once the lion is moved? I'll take a photo of the table tomorrow with it gone, so you can see the mess that is that side of the table -- I don't think it can be left bare. Maybe some sort of a floor vase... hmmm...

I love that lion! Is there a place in entry or anywhere in your home where he can be the star as a single display item & not part of a vignette? He’s got enough presence to be a stand alone.

As much as I hate the idea of using books as props, I think your table would look great with some big, coffee table style books on the lower shelf. Just get some on the subjects that actually interest you/your family members :).

Looks like a nice space! I agree with others: move the lion. Put the horse on the bottom shelf with some books, baskets, to warm up the look (and baskets are a handy place to put gloves etc in the winter or sun hats in summer). Add a pretty tray to the table top.

The horse looks odd sitting in the middle like that. Move him to the side a bit and add a shallow bowl and I think things will look more balanced. I love your painting, and the lion and horse, btw. Gorgeous pieces. And yes to big art books on the bottom of the console.

Lion was originally a building ornament wasn’t it? Is there a perfect higher spot in back yard or patio for him? Or, can you find a tall, skinny, sturdy display stand or pillar for him to sit on all by himself in a corner or somewhere else in entry?

Love that winged lion. Can you get a pedestal for him to sit on in the same spot you have him now, either lower or higher than the console? Then on your console table, I would put the horse in profile on the left side under the picture and your pretty lacy bowl on the right side under the picture. On the bottom of your console, I would put a basket to hide the wires., with another one on the other side of your console. May not need anything in the center bottom..

A couple of updated photos... first is just an idea with what I already have, I think it's better... but will need to get actual books and something else for the top if I stick with this... will need to figure out what to do with the wires still.

Second idea is photoshopped... thoughts on this? Is this what you guys mean by baskets, or am I misunderstanding?

The lion has a pretty wide base (just over 20 inches lengthwise), not sure where to find a pedestal for him. Could potentially find a corner in the living room or the dining room if I had a pedestal, so that's a good idea. If anyone has ideas, I'm all ears!

And I do like the idea of having the baskets on either side, too- this way, the grill would be camouflaged! I'll try that, next. Do the baskets look okay, or should I bet considering something different?

Those baskets look too casual, in my opinion...

I still think books would look better there. Baskets look a tad too utilitarian (unless you really need them for storage of misc items?).

place the horse bust on the top next to the lamp on the left place some books aside of it with a nice small vase of flowers but the height of the books must not past the bust head.

but have the horse head turned diagonally also if the books are too thick in height us a keepsake box.

I agree, I'm also not a fan of the baskets - maybe that's because they're too casual, I don't know. We also wouldn't use them for anything, really, because this isn't our main entry (we go in through the garage, where we have storage).

Right now, I'm thinking I'll look for a pretty vase/tray and get some books (that I'll actually read ;o)), and see what I can come up with.

Still trying to think of a way to cover the outlet mess, so if anyone has any ideas there, that'd be helpful.
