Since you won't be purchasing the fireplace, perhaps invest in a larger art piece to hang above the table. The current piece is lost.

If the electric fireplace you're looking at is the one pictured, I'd say do it! It would fit right in with the transitional style of your stair balusters and I like the location you have for it. It's a decor element more than anything and will look way more interesting than the little table you have there now.

Yeah. I'd do it. I think it will add more interest and warmth (literally) to your space. We added one to our upstairs library and I turn it on all the time when upstairs reading in the cooler months. It adds a nice ambiance.
