One strip??? I haven't seen that since the early 70's.

Here are some painted stripes, some wallpaper & some murals that you might want to consider instead.

Google "paint stripe on walls" and you will get a ton of suggestions from design ideas to how-tos.

use a laser level or some other level, mark your line. then use painters tape. you can use a little of the base color of the wall to seal the tape seam, or some light clear caulking, or some water based clear coat poly. anything to seal the seam so you don't get bleed under the tape.

now just paint your color over it. peel up before the paint completely dries.

Is there a reason you are choosing a single stripe? What is your overall home decor? How will this lone stripe play into it? Honestly a great paint color and large art would make more of an impact .

OP later said she didn't mean just one stripe.

if you want something like these, you can use tape.

or if you want a design wall, look into stencils or even doing wood trim molding, instead of the tape

lol. cool wall, but my, what a ton of work

Great ideas everyone. My daughter stenciled a wall in my bedroom to look like brick and it looks really great. I love the idea of doing a stripe / design on one wall. What’s the worse that can happen......you paint over it. Attached picture is my bedroom

Honestly how the heck do we know I have no clue as to the space or your style or your funiture IMO accent walls are difficult to do right and with no info impossible to advise . I will say that doing this right requires a perfectionist so is that you ? if your bedroom is an indication of your style than I would do wallpaper

It looks as if your daughter did a fantastic job with the stencil in the bedroom. How about another stencil for the accent wall?

She did a fantastic job on the bedroom wall. It looks amazing. Patricia Colwell comments were not very nice.
Yes, maybe another stencil in that room. Just searching for ideas not criticism

Do you have some photos that you can post? If we can see the space then we might be able to come up with some fun ideas.

Yes. It’s a work in privy. Always changing pictures. The wall I want to focus on is the wall with the long black shelving unit. The green art work above it has to go. I only want to use the black and whites

This is in the room too

I like the idea of color blocking.

I remember your space. I photoshopped the artwork into a different arrangement. Many people did not like the bottom set of black and white art with the larger piece. I think the bottom set of art could look great together.

How would you use the black and white art? I am considering changing the frame to a birch wood. Thoughts?

The black frames look nice with the black table. The problem with that area imo is that when you look at how it plays with the entire space, the table is too small and the wall is too big compared to what you have on it. In order for that wall to work, I think you need a much longer table and lots more art. OR you could add a stencil or wallpaper to add interest and ditch the table, and possibly the art too.

As for the artwork, I think the black frames work with both the green painting and the multicolored painting. My preference is the green painting because it is a better size for the space. If you look at your old question from a week or so ago, I did a photoshop on exactly how I would arrange the paintings. Just swap the multicolored painting with the green one in the photoshop. There are a couple of reasons your current arrangement does not work.

    1. The zig-zag placement of the black frames is not attractive. Changing the frames to birch will just make them look more out of place imo.
    2. The green painting is hung much too high.
    3. The arrangement would be more appealing with the larger green or multicolored painting hung vertically instead of horizontally.

I am not a professional. I happen to really like art. So take my suggestions for what they are worth......

As for your original question, I really like the striped wall that I photoshopped for you. I think it goes well with your modern dining room table and chandelier. However, it does not go with the rest of the space. The dining area seems to be much more modern than the rest of the space. It competes with the tall cabinet and with the other cabinet on the other side of the hallway. Stripes will only highlight that. I think you will have the same problem with color blocking. Others might be able to chime in with suggestions on what stencil or wallpaper design would work best for merging the two areas.

Or I could be completely wrong about all of the above....
