You choose an appliance for how you want to use it not anybody elses use. Does this cooktop provide the things you want or is it part of some package deal ? IMO no appliances should be from only one maker since there is no single maker that makes everything well. Get plain old stainless for appliances and choose each one for how you use it.

I like the models with the knobs on the front, not the ones with the knobs on the side of the top. I'm short so my arm could get too close to a flame or hot pot if I need to reach a back knob.

I'm not sure why any PRO would recommend stainless when they know nothing about the client or their project especially when that wasn't part of the question. Yes, people should get what works for them, but when you are shopping, you don't always think of things that may be undesirable until you actually use for a period of time. So someone with experience could enlighten them. Geesh

First thing I did was look up the consumer reports gas cook top ratings.

BTW - I activate my Consumer Reports membership one month at a time. I let it lapse when I am not shopping for big ticket items and renew for a month when I am shopping - just bought a dishwasher, so you caught me with an active account.
