We have polished marble floors with warm creamtones and a pretty creamy, buttery ivory on the walls in our family room and I have (perhaps foolishly) chosen an antique Turkish rug before selecting a sofa. Beautiful Colors of warm ivory with navy, light blue, pale green, and a lesser amount of pinks and reds. Very pretty, I love it. Our home is European/French country style and I am trying to find a sofa that will fit with thewe colors and our lifestyle (4 children ages 10-18). They are careful about furniture but I would prefer something either slipcovered or leather to mitigate possiblue stain issues. The room is open to both the living room which is mostly pale blue, ivory and a warm taupe, the kitchen with dark cherry cabinets, and the railing and loft area which have a dark cherry staircase with black wrought iron spindles. One theme I do carry throughout the house is blue and white china accents and gilt/gold accents. Any thoughts on direction for the sofa? Do I go with a pale blue velvet slipcovered sofa, a white or off-white sofa... we have had white before and it was fine but did require extra upkeep (washing!) to keep it nice and white, or a leather sofa? All input is greatly appreciated!
