Tile issue in split bathroom

My master bathroom has a 48” vanity/sink on the north wall and a 72” vanity/sink on the south wall. I get more drawers than my husband! Neither is attached to a wall...we each have several open inches on either side of our respective counters. For our simple backsplash, we plan to have small (2x3-4) (not mosaic) glass tiles that are the same as the colored glass subway tiles going under both shower heads in the shower.

My dilemma is about how high up to go with the backsplash tiles. There’s a large mirror medicine cabinet on each side. The mirror is not as wide as the counter. I’d like to have the small glass tiles go all the way up the sides of the mirror to the top but not all the way to the ceiling. I don’t know if it will look stupid having blank wall next to glass tile but we I feel like cannot tile both entire walls. That’d be far too much.

Photo is just a sort of sample. Like the size of his wall. The vanity base is floating. Where should the tile end? (The mirror is NOT as wide as the vanity so there’s wall space on either side of the mirror out to the edge of the counter. Make any sense? Help appreciated if you can follow my rambling.
