The color will absolutely be beautiful with the cedar! Would anyone add anything for the post in the front or any tips on trims or anything?

I wouldn’t go with such a light sage....it’s almost white and looks too pale adjacent to the concrete driveway. If that were my house, I would keep the beautiful cedar as is, but put my money into widening the driveway (the car is partly on the grass) and updating the landscaping for sure. The curb out at the road is in poor condition: if you would be allowed to replace it, I would do that, too.

I love sage and cedar together. They look beautiful. Looking at Celery's photo, I would leave the area around the windows cedar and paint the rest. It will add contrast similar to the way dark grey adds contrast in this pic:

I like Angel’s idea about the contrast. I was thinking turning the middle Centre posts white and the inside of the entrance white to have some contrast. The hardiboard sage is a bit darker than Celery’s rendering too so I think the colours are great together!

Felizlady, the car was just temporarily parked there (a family members car) but the driveway is actually big enough for 2 cars comfortably to be side by side. The cedar unfortunately is old and warping. They wanted to stain it originally, but it’s rotting out and they don’t want to spend the money replacing it. Also, landscaping is on the list lol, but one thing at a time! (They just finished updating the backyard and it’s STUNNING complete with a sunroom and gorgeous fire pit area!). But the front though is an eyesore, I totally agree 😂

This is more the sage colour my mom loves. I’m really curious, what do you guys think on how to break apart the huge side? It seems like it would look like....a huge wall of green just being hardiboard. Any ideas??

Seems the front windows are contributing to the dated look. Perhaps consider black steel casements to replace?

I think your mum's choice will look great. No, it's not a crisp white which is popular but it will give a warmth that whites or jet blacks do not. The cedar is in that range so i can see why the green appeals. If you she goues with it.... just be sure to paint the down pipes to blend!

I think the color your mother picked is toooo dark for your style house and color roof ! It will look dark and depressing ! Look at the other houses ..their trim in white around Windows , their color roof ...be careful ...go slow and look around at the style houses that have that color sage . I would go with the lighter version .

In my opinion, I would try a slightly lighter sage color. This Mountain Sage color may be a bit dark next to the cedar garage door. Go to the paint store and get five or six color cards to try out next to the garage door in daylight. If the cedar itself is old and warping, you may want to consider having just the worst section replaced....wood often gets warped and rotted due to too much moisture. It may not have been well maintained with stain or sealant. Replacing one section of cedar will be more affordable if the wood supplier can match the existing tone.

I love all the ideas! Thank you! I’m going to show these to my mom and see what she thinks. She does love red flowers, and will eventually landscape the front so thank you for those examples. I did get her a lighter sage so I’ll see what she thinks of that.
