Victorian home curb appeal help

Just got an offer accepted on an old Victorian home. in great shape but is outdated and lacking curb appeal. the porch awning obviously needs to be tossed asap :) but besides that could really use some advice on how to give this guy a fresh modern look. If the vinyl is in good shape, it would be great to paint it to save $. Would love ideas or visions for how to tackle - color for siding and for shutters? thank you!!

Once the awning is gone post a picture. I think landscaping is going to be the best bang for your buck

And remove the toothpick railing. Appears that the porch is low enough that it isn't necessary.

Yes wait until you are in and know your full to do list because if that vinyl is in good shape you may just want to live with it and work with it.

@jck910 you're probably right! removing that tree, etc. will vastly improve. @thinkdesignlive maybe its the shutter color thats clashing and by changing that will help with the fresh look against the current siding.

I would leave the tree and the railing. It looks like the porch is two feet from the ground, so I think it is better to have it for safety. Check with your local code first at any rate. The tree could be professionally pruned to make grow more fully, but it still looks like an asset.

Post a picture after the awning is removed.

It varies by area but typically anything under 30" off above grade doesn't need a railing and the one that's there is poorly designed.
