Color scheme help

Hey guys, were in the final stretch and we're wanting a little input on a color selection. We're trying to decide what color to paint the banister and skirt on the staircase. Our main thought is to paint them caviar black the same color as our trim. The main wall color will be SW Passive Gray with SW Pure White trim. The bookshelf will be Pure white as well. Also there will be carpet on the stairs. The overall theme of our home will be White and Black with accents of SW Georgian Bay on the kitchen islands, pantry door. What do yall think?

The colors look nice together but Escape Gray looks very green on my screen especially compared to the other gray and white and doesn't go well with the other colors.

Passive also looks purply pink but it only matters what it looks like in your house with your lighting, did you get some samples or color cards?

@Christina yea we got sample jars and painted them each on a wooden board in a grid to see how each color interacts with each other. Escape grey is only going in the master bath, which will be mainly pure white and a tile that has some hints of that color in it

Hi - Your project looks exciting!

I particularly like Passive, but there’s something about it worth mentioning.

It’s a low Chroma, near neutral colour, which belongs to the Green-Yellow Hue Family.

(As does Escape Gray, but that is a more ‘colourful’ colour and so more of its inherent greenness may be seen at times.)

Near neutrals from this area of the colour wheel are perceived by many as ‘just grey’.

And if the quality of light within a room is reasonably well balanced across the spectrum, it’s highly likely that’s how it will appear.

However, any low Chroma (near neutral) colours, from this Hue Family neighbourhood are prone to shifting blue in imbalanced lighting. They aren’t blue and don’t have blue ‘undertones‘- it’s simply an effect of light quality upon the colour.

And to know which version will turn up for you, requires testing in your space, with your light. Sample on a large moveable board or a Swatch Right paint/peel/stick decal, not directly on to the walls as you need to be able to move them around.

Apologies if you have already gone through this! It’s just that Passive in particular, is such a chameleon-like colour and it so important to know what to expect. (I happen to like it in both versions, but I would hate for someone to plan for a soft grey and blue turns up!)

Have a look at photographs of it on Houzz, Home Bunch, Pinterest and you will see just how varied it can appear.
